Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS is one of the nation’s leading industry-based, nonprofit AIDS fundraising and grant-making organizations. By drawing upon the talents, resources and generosity of the American theatre community, since 1988 BC/EFA has raised more than $285 million for essential services for people with AIDS and other critical illnesses.
Broadway Cares is the major supporter of the essential social service programs at The Actors Fund, including the HIV/AIDS Initiative, the Phyllis Newman Women’s Health Initiative and the Al Hirschfeld Free Health Clinic. Broadway Cares also awards annual grants to more than 450 AIDS and family service organizations in all 50 states, helping to ensure those most in need receive lifesaving medication and health care, nutritious meals, counseling and emergency financial assistance.
Programs of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS include Classical Action, which draws on the talents and generosity of the classical, opera and jazz performing arts communities to raise funds for AIDS services and Dancers Responding to AIDS, the dance world’s ongoing response to the AIDS crisis. Each item purchased allows Broadway Cares to succeed in our mission of helping those affected by HIV and AIDS and other life-threatening illnesses. What we do together makes a difference!
